A COMPLETE* SET OF THE SECOND EMI REFLEXE SERIES ON CD - 63 TITLES COMPRISING 71 CDs
*These Reflexe CDs represent the later releases (roughly half the total) that complete EMI's SECOND REFLEXE SERIES. By 1990 EMI had abandoned the LP format and new Reflexe recordings issued from then onwards exist on CD only.

This Second Reflexe Collection 'Based on the research of the 1980s' is not to be confused with the 1970s EMI Germany series STATIONEN EUROPAISCHER MUSIK, a set of 60 LPs which covered European music from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance.
Prompted by the success of the earlier German survey, EMI launched the present series, comprising digital recordings** from the 1980s, ranging from Dufay and Guillame de Machaut to Brahms and Schumann. Just over halfway through the project EMI abandoned the LP in favour of CD, resulting in the hybrid collection - offered here in its two separate parts - half on LP and half on CD.
** Even so, EMI took advantage of the new format to reissue under the Reflexe banner three classic 1970s recordings from their LP catalogue:
BACH: Goldberg Variations Alan Curtis
BACH: Sonatas for Viola da Gamba Jordi Savall / Ton Koopman
THE ART OF THE NETHERLANDS / David Munrow
