The Decca SXL 6000 series was introduced in 1962 and replaced the SXL 2000 series as the company's full price new release label. The style remained unchanged, so pressings were still grooved with black & silver labels and bore the familiar FULL FREQUENCY STEREOPHONIC SOUND banner with Original Recording By at the 10'o'clock position. This label is called ED1.

Piecemeal and inconsistently, Decca introduced a new label style in late 1964, used first on both SXL 6120 and SXL 6135, the Original Recording By text being changed to MADE IN ENGLAND. Gradually the new label (known as ED2) supplanted the ED1 label and by SXL 6250 the earlier label had virtually disappeared. There are only a handful of ED1 issues up until its last appearance on SXL 6363.

The ED2 label lasted until 1968 (SXL 6376) and a new label variant was used from SXL 6377 until the demise of the wide band label in 1970 (SXL 6448). This final wide band label is called ED3 and has no groove, but has the FFSS banner and Made in England text.
