EVGENY SVETLANOV
Evgeny Svetlanov (1928–2002) was a Russian conductor revered as one of the great interpreters of the Russian symphonic tradition. As chief conductor of the USSR State Symphony Orchestra for over three decades, he built a legendary reputation for his passionate performances and his vast recordings of Russian repertoire, including the complete symphonies of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Scriabin, and Glazunov.
