STRAVINSKY: THE BALLETS
Stravinsky wrote some of the most revolutionary and influential ballets of the 20th century. Beginning with his dazzling Russian period—The Firebird (1910), Petrushka (1911), and the groundbreaking Rite of Spring (1913). He then turned toward neoclassicism with works like Pulcinella (1920), Apollo (1928), and Orpheus (1947), drawing on earlier musical traditions with clarity and restraint. In later years, Stravinsky experimented with modernist and serialist techniques in ballets such as Agon (1957).
