GUSTAV HOLST
Gustav Holst (1874-1934 England ) is best known for his orchestral suite The Planets, a seven-movement work in which each movement reflects the astrological character of a planet. Beyond this, he composed a range of choral and orchestral music, including The Hymn of Jesus and Hymns from the Rig Veda, as well as orchestral pieces like Hammersmith and A Fugal Overture
Holst also contributed significantly to wind band literature, producing works such as First Suite in E-flat for Military Band and Second Suite in F, which remain central to the repertoire for military and concert bands.
