MARCH 2026 - having listed roughly a third of the Decca SXL 6000 series (from SXL 6000 up to SXL 6376), and having seen the demise of the ED1 label and both the introduction of the ED2 label and its end (SXL 6376), we will pause at the point where Decca dispensed with the grooved pressing in favour of the 'flat' pressing known as ED3. Accordingly, the 6000 series listing will resume in April with SXL 6377, the first LP recital of Pavarotti.
The focus in the OPERA section will trace the development of the genre across the 18th century, with RAMEAU, HANDEL and GLUCK given due prominence. A THOUSAND YEARS OF SONG will feature vocal pieces by famous singers ranging from troubador songs of the 12th century up to Weill and Ives in the 20th.
Each month we will list a comprehensive selection of works by a specific composer and in March it will be BENJAMIN BRITTEN
